Fall is my favorite time of year. The weather is gorgeous, it starts to cool down, and I can finally wear a sweater without sweating with one of my favorite scarves. The leaves change to beautiful hues of orange and red and the excitement of the holidays coming up puts me in a great mood. Fall is the inspiration for the next blog I am posting about: Autumn Cozy.
I have posted a number of times about picture blogs and this is another one of those. I have said time and again, “Who doesn’t love a pretty picture?!” And that rings true for this blog. Autumn Cozy is filled with beautiful pictures of fall. It is a great reminder of why I love this season so much. Looking at this blog is like stepping into the coziest room full of everything you love plus hot coco and fluffy blankets.
The author, who’s name happens to be Autumn, posts many different fall-related photos. There are a lot of fall dessert pictures:
And, of course, there are many pictures of the colorful fall leaves:
There are pictures of fall clothing, and I love fall clothing:
And plenty of fall coziness:
I could seriously spend hours on this blog scrolling through the thousands of pictures on it. There’s something about fall that makes me feel so comfortable, and looking at this brings that right to me on my computer screen.
I tend to like blogs that revolve around a certain city or place, which might be obvious since I follow so many NYC-based blogs. The next blog I am featuring is based in LA. It’s called Native Fox and is a street fashion blog.
I really like fashion blogs but many are unrealistic for, say, a poor college student like me. This woman does wear expensive clothing, but her clothes aren’t inaccessible to the everyday woman.
This blog is made by one woman who models her everyday outfits on the streets of LA.

Ever now and then, I come across a blog that covers a wide variety of topics. That’s exactly what the blog The Pioneer Woman does.
You may know that The Pioneer Woman, aka Ree Drummond, has her own cooking show on Food Network known as The Pioneer Woman. She got a show on Food Network because of her blog, which has won numerous awards, and her best-selling cookbook. However, I discovered her on Food Network because I have a mild (more like huge) obsession with Food Network shows. I really don’t know why…
Later, I discovered her blog and man, oh, man does she do a great job blogging! She lives in the middle of nowhere on a cattle ranch with her husband and four kids. One might wonder how she has so much to blog about then. Well, I’m assuming living in the middle of no where with four kids forces one to come up with interesting stuff to do.
Her blog has a number of sections making it easy to search through this wide-ranging blog. The Confessions section includes photos and stories of her husband and children and the animals on the farm.
The Cooking section includes step-by-step photos of all the cowboy-friendly dishes she taught herself to cook through the years. There’s butter involved.
In her Photography section, Ree gives tips to starting photographers and photoshop tutorials.
In the Home & Garden section, Ree shows the step-by-step saga of a start-to-finish remodeling project of an old guest house on the ranch, as well as general home tips and photos of things she loves.
And in the Homeschooling section, she discuss the adventure of homeschooling four children on an isolated cattle ranch, hold regular “Smartypants” trivia quizzes so readers can test their brain matter, and share Words of the Day, interesting trivia, and occasional brainteasers.
There is so much on this blog. So many great recipes, so many amazing photographs, great stories, and more.
I’m always looking for inspiration whether it be recipe or meal ideas, decorating tips or DIY how-to’s. One area I am always searching for a little idea help is fashion. That’s why I love following fashion blogs. I love seeing new ways to wear things, different combinations of unrelated items, and new and different ways to accessorize.
Enter the blog What I Wore.
I am a little picky when it comes to fashion blogs but for good reason. I don’t want to look at a fashion blog that is just pictures of what someone wears every single day. I’m gonna need a little information with all those fab photos of you wearing your fab clothes. For example, tell me where each piece is from and link to a place where I can purchase the piece. If I can no longer buy that piece, give me a link to where I can buy a similar piece. Jessica, the blogger, does just that and I love it.
Another reason I’m picky about fashion blogs is because I don’t really care much about clothing that I cannot afford, probably will never be able to afford, and clothing that I would never wear because it is very outlandish. As you can see from the above picture, Jessica does not spend mass amounts of money on designer pieces. She shops at places I regularly hit such as J.Crew, Target, and Old Navy. Even though some of these pieces are relatively cheap, she makes them look very chic.
Jessica makes it super easy to shop for the clothes she is wearing in her post, which is a definite plus.
She’ll also have links to posts with similar outfits, which is great because it helps you think of ways to style pieces in different ways. Woohoo!
Another reason I like this fashion blog is because it’s not just a blog with the outfit she wears everyday (boring). She incorporates different posts to make it fun. For instance, the post Top 20 Homemade Halloween Costumes for Adults on What I Wore (OMG!!!). I literally cannot believe she made all of those costumes herself.
Another example of the different types of posts she does is this: Your Workplace Wardrobe on What I Wore. She compiles work outfits of her own all in one place, which is helpful to those looking for just work clothing.
While this my not exactly be considered a blog, it sort of acts like one. In fact, most of the content comes from blogs. And I absolutely love it and am on it quite a lot. Let me introduce you to Pinterest.
The way Pinterest describes itself is “a tool for collecting and organizing things you love.” For a better description, it’s a pinboard-style photo-sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, and hobbies. Users can browse other users’ pinboards for images, “re-pin” images to their own pinboards, or “like” photos. If you double click on photos, almost all of them lead to a website.
For instance, if you double click on a picture of a shoe, a new page might open with the website for where that shoe is from. On other instances, images might bring you to the blog where the image was originally pinned from.
Pinterest also has an easy pin button. If you are on a webpage and see an image you like, you can click the pin button, which is located at the end of the web address slot. When you click the button, the images on the page you are on pop up and you can choose the image you would like to put on your Pinterest page.
For me (and I know for many others), Pinterest inspires me. I get inspiration for clothing ideas, decoration ideas, food and recipes, weddings, pretty much everything. And I find things that I’ve never seen before. There are so many great recipes and DIY projects for anything and everything. I could, and do, spend hours on Pinterest.
I recently came across a new blog that I really like. It’s called Classy Girls Wear Pearls and is all about preppy fashion. The author, Sarah Vickers, loves to wear preppy clothes and clearly does so all the time.
While I do love this blog for the fashion, I’m not an always-preppy-clothed kind of woman. However, Sarah and her friends live in Rhode Island on the coast and are always finding adventure. They do things that me and my friends don’t often do, living on the coast and in New England.
They go walking on the rocks along the shore, they go “birding” or bird watching in the water, and they go play in the ocean and the lighthouses. It seems that her and her friends are always doing something whether it’s going out to the water and finding adventure or going to a friend’s lovely home and hanging out with friends. Whatever she’s doing, she’s dressed to perfection in preppy bliss.
Another thing about this blog that I really like is that it features men’s fashion, as well. All of her guy friends happen to be impeccably dressed at all times too, not just the ladies.
And not to mention the fabulous parties they hold and attend…
Today, I am revisiting a blog I posted about months ago and for good reason. This week marks the first week of my last semester of college, so I thought it would be appropriate to revisit one of my favorite blogs: The College Prepster.
Even though the author Carly graduated college last May, she still blogs about college-related things. Just recently, Carly posted about study tips and back to school clothes. While I love looking at her blog for other reasons, I think it’s great she still sticks to the roots of her blog and writes on topics that many of her readers relate to.
Since Carly graduated over a year ago and has had a job working in NYC for exactly one year, she does not post much about college or give school advice as much. However, I love the things she posts about. She’s been talking a lot more about fashion and clothing and about what she does in NYC.
Carly posts a lot about work, which is great for me since I am hoping to have a job come December after I graduate. She gives advice on stuff ranging from what Shoes to wear for interviews and jobs to a list of apps that show all How to Feel Like an Adult.
I definitely see myself using the advice she gives (and she gives a lot on all sorts of topics) in my future.
The next blog I’m posting about is a blog many people know about. It combines (hence the title “Combo”) many things that I’ve posted about before plus other things I am passionate about. These things include humor, celebrities, videos, photos, viral media, lists (I love lists!), fashion, and so much more. The blog is called BuzzFeed.
I mostly love BuzzFeed because of its humorous posts, but it’s so much more than that. Every single time I look at this blog, I learn or see something new. Many people might think that it’s kind of a joke of a website that talks about stupid stuff surrounding celebrities. I don’t think that’s the case. BuzzFeed was co-founded by Jonah Peretti who also co-founded The Huffington Post, and, in 2012, Ben Smith of Politico was hired as editor-in-chief. I think these facts show that it isn’t quite a joke website.
Another reason I like this blog is because I love the way the site is set up. Across the top is a list of topics you can choose from, so you can view exactly what you’re looking for. Those topics are LOL, win, omg, cute, geeky, trashy, fail, wtf, and one with a crooked arrow pointing up. There’s another list under that with more specific topics, which includes news, entertainment, life, and more.
I also like how you immediately see a photo with a caption explaining what you will see or read if you click on the photo. BuzzFeed also has so many lists with pictures, such as 9 Surprising Things That Might Not Be Vegetarian, 18 Experiences You Only Have At University, 43 Of The Best Met Ball Accessories, 7 Photos Of A Skinny Chris Christie (LOL) and so many more. The BuzzFeed team is constantly uploading new stuff, too. (Seriously though. Go to the page and refresh it a few minutes later and a couple of new things will be up.)
Here is a look at the whole front page. See all those pictures? Doesn’t it just draw you in?!
While BuzzFeed does post a lot of humorous information and celebrity-based stories, they also write about a lot of stuff going on in the news. BuzzFeed takes a different spin on their stories about news, which I like since I am a journalist and all. Enjoy!
I recently discovered a blog that is all about current trends. I love trendy stuff, but I love discovering new, cool things even more, especially when those cool things are popular. I find it interesting to discover what other people are interested in and why
The blog is called Trendland. The main page features a handful of trendy things from different topic areas. The topics are fashion, design, photography, art, culture, music, video, and shop. You can see all the trending things in those area, how cool!
Check out the front page:
